Let’s chat about Cardio Warm Up.
Cardio warm up sets the tone and pace for class by heating up the body with agility-type programming. Rotating between two postures more frequently improves our ability to change direction and boosts brain power! It also recruits more muscles to work resulting in a higher calorie burn.
Cardio Warmup contains aerobic combinations and a dynamic plank or push up variation.
Programming starts with an aerobic combo, but unlike traditional classes, the dynamic plank/pushup can be programmed in between or after aerobic combos – the multiple level changes promote a big boost to the heart rate. Warmup programming includes the following:
Opening Stretch (1 minute or less)
Same sequence as traditional class with less cueing since clients should be familiar with the sequence
2-3 Aerobic Combos
A combination of two current True40 Warm Up postures performed in alternating reps of 2, 4, or 8 depending on the movement’s tempo. Must fit within musicality phrases.
All planes of motion (sagittal, frontal, transverse) must be reflected at least once in your aerobic postures.
see updated program guidelines for listed examples
1 Dynamic Plank or Pushup
A True40 Plank or pushup variation with a dynamic add-on, or a plyometric “jumping” add-on.
*We are in the process of adding lists of posture combinations, add-ons, etc. to the cardio portal page so you will have more resources to pull from! Videos will gradually be added, so in the meantime please reach out if you need video demonstration from something on that list.
