Exercise that feels too difficult or uncomfortable gives people a negative experience and can keep them from coming back. Giving someone a positive experience where they can complete an entire workout, taking modifications as needed, can be the start of a lifestyle change. When I think of our workout, it’s challenging but I still feel that I can do it, and I get that feeling from most new people who come in. It feels good to be able to challenge yourself, but even better that you can complete it, and it encourages you to keep going.
-Your body needs cardio and weight/resistance training:
If you want to live longer and healthier, or lose weight and keep it off, it’s important to combine strength training with cardio. Aerobic exercise burns calories that would otherwise be stored as extra pounds, and strength training builds and preserves muscle mass. This keeps your metabolism revved, and regardless of age or gender, you will benefit from strength training. Load-bearing exercises help maintain healthy bone mass and prevent age-related muscle loss.
Strength training actually works your cardiovascular system as well-you cannot fully access your cardiovascular system unless you perform mechanical work with your muscles.
-Low impact exercise provides a lot of long term benefits.
Utilizing slower, controlled movements subjects your joints to less stress and chance of injury, while still providing a lot of positive total body benefits. Low impact workouts are great for slowly building strength and endurance at your own pace.
Routine and consistency are key for changing the body and mind toward healthy habits – these workouts have little to no recovery requirements, so you can participate practically everyday.
Long-term, you’ll find benefits such as toning, increase in muscle and muscle endurance, bone density and strength and stability, without “bulking up.”
Lower impact training increases flexibility, lengthening and stretching the muscles, helping your muscles to work correctly.
Moreover, it creates a mind-body awareness that helps to improve balance and flexibility.
